Get Home Safe
Our work with MADD and MADD Canada

Calling #TAXI (#8294) is always safer than driving after drinking or taking drugs, letting a friend or loved one take that risk, or being driven by someone who’s had too much.
A few sobering facts:
- You can have a blood alcohol concentration of less than 0.08 to be impaired. Driving with a concentration of 0.05 to 0.08 makes you 7x more likely to be involved in a fatal crash than if you hadn’t had anything to drink.
- Impaired driving remains the number one cause of criminal death in North America, with almost 15,000 deaths and over 70,000 injuries … all preventable.
- Driving under the influence is receiving increasingly harsh punishment, with stiff jail time one of the options. In many states and provinces there are Zero Tolerance programs, where new drivers lose the right to drive if they have consumed any alcohol.
- Even a pint of beer can make it unsafe to drive—what we eat, how tired we are, whether we’re upset, etc. can hugely increase the effects of alcohol.
The bottom line? It’s NEVER worth it to take a chance.
For years, #TAXI marketing campaigns have focused on safe ways to get home (or anywhere else) rather than on messages that are heavy on scare tactics. People are going to drink—we just want them to have fun and make smart decisions that won’t hurt anyone.
#TAXI has been a long standing supporter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving Canada (MADD Canada) from 2003 to 2017. We also work with responsible alcohol companies, retailers, and those in the hospitality and events industry to promote their efforts to get people into safe rides.
